My friends and I went to Angels and Kings on a Saturday night. The crowd was very representative of the hipster neighborhood in which the bar is located. The place was busy, but not to the point where I felt claustrophobic, and, as a disclaimer, I think it might have been a special event night, as there was a photographer wondering around. The décor is modern yet inviting with eccentric influences. The music played was an impressive blend of top 40 and underground dance. All things considered, this is great place for a bar with no cover in this area.5 stars0Michael said on June 13 at 06:57 PM Reply0
My friends and I had a blast at Angels & Kings (a Pete Wentz joint). There is an upstairs section and a basement, both long and narrow (it can get clogged quickly when it gets crowded). At the end of the upstairs is a stage with 2 large chairs on it (presumably for an Angel and a King??).
The upstairs seems to be more for dancing (the DJ booth is up there), whereas the downstairs had a lot more couches and booths for people to chill. The vibe I got was that downstairs drew more of the hipster/indie crowd, and upstairs was the more pretty-party-people crowd :)
The decor/ambiance is pretty cool, it's clean and modern without being overwhelming. There are some badass decorative touches like Gucci AK-47's mounted on glass on the walls - love it! The bartenders were also very quick and attentive. The music was great too, the DJ played a sporadic yet really effective energetic mix of music.
One other point I gotta make - the girls here were GORGEOUS, and outnumbered the guys! And for the ladies reading this, no worries, everyone here looked pretty well put-together :) Next time I'm in Chicago I would love to come back and party here. Keep it up Angels & Kings!5 stars2gchiaren said on April 09 at 04:51 AM Reply0
